Let us start anew in 2011 and begin the shift towards green energy with the revolutionary biosphere technology. Biosphere Technology is the materialization of the decades of research and development activities centered at empowering green energy to the point that it can compete head on with conventional forms of energy such as coal and oil. Natural Solutions For Altitude Sickness

We just returned from our wonderful annual jaunt up into the mountains here in Colorado, just a few hours from where we live. We go to Lake City every year for a little R&R. While we were there, we encountered several other vacationers who suffered from altitude sickness, which is not surprising since Lake City has an altitude of over 8,500 feet.

These vacationers were from Florida, and suffered the usual symptoms of altitude sickness, including shortness of breath, headache, dizziness, a little nausea, and general tiredness. These symptoms make for a less-than-pleasant vacation. Luckily, we always carry some natural supplements that help with these symptoms, including Coenzyme Q10 and blue-green algae, and our new friends were able to enjoy the rest of their vacation without further trouble.

What Causes Altitude Sickness?

The obvious causes of altitude sickness, especially for people accustomed to living in lower altitudes, is the “thin air,” or lack of oxygen at higher altitudes. The thin air causes the body to get less oxygen. To make up for this lack, the body compensates by increasing the heart rate and respiration, which helps to a certain extent, but not totally. The lack of oxygen to different parts of the body then causes symptoms like dizziness, headache, sluggishness, and so forth.

Natural Methods for Preventing Altitude Sickness

Taking certain measures while at high altitudes can prevent symptoms. Here are a few that we have found work really well.

– Eat Small Meals Frequently: Digestion takes a lot of energy, which can worsen symptoms. Eating small frequent meals high in complex carbohydrates can prevent feelings of tiredness and nausea.

To prevent altitude sickness, you start following these guidelines a few days before you go into the high country. In addition, you can also try breathing deeply to increase oxygen intake, moving more slowly, and sipping rather than gulping large quantities of water. If all else fails, descend to a lower altitude for a few days until your body adjusts before returning to the higher altitude.

Magnet Generators Are a Free Energy Breakthrough – True Or False?

Do you want to save on your energy costs in an eco friendly manner? If so you have several options. Solar power systems are the most popular alternative energy choice. In certain areas, generating electricity with a wind turbine system is a realistic solution. However, a potential new energy source has appeared. Magnet generators are being promoted as the alternative energy future. Advocates claim that once the initial cost is paid you will receive free energy for life.

The premise of magnet generators is that once the generator is powered up, it will continue to produce more energy than it consumes and will do so indefinitely. This condition of perpetual motion is known as over-unity. Proponents of this concept claim there are several reasons why you should choose this system over solar and wind power. Let’s examine those claims and determine if they are true.

1. A magnet generator can be constructed at home by anyone using common household tools and materials readily available from your local hardware store. When you examine the plans available from Magniworks, the leading online seller of these plans, several things jump out at you. First, you must fabricate metal parts. The copper rotor in particular requires very precise metal machining. Most homeowners do not have the tools or the skill to do this.

Second, the parts needed are not common hardware store items. The copper coated steel wires, copper rotor and the specially designed magnets specified are not available at my hardware store nor at any of the online sources listed in the Magniwork plans. Is the claim that anyone using common household tools and readily available material can build this generator true or false? False.

2. Once installed, a magnet generator will replace up to 50% of the electric power in the average home. In searching the Internet I did not find any magnet generators for sale, only plans to build them. This type of power generation, like solar and wind turbine, requires one or more 12 volt batteries to store the generated power. The Magniworks generator, at approximately 4 inches square,is too small to replace 50 percent of an average home’s electrical usage. The stated output is only 3.5 volts, 7 amps producing 24.5 watts of output. It is impossible to charge a 12 volt battery using only 3.5 volts. Hooked directly to a power inverter it would only power a single 20 watt bulb, not an entire house. Is the claim that the generator can supply up to 50 percent of a home’s electric needs true or false? False.

3. Magnet generators are perpetual motion machines that generate free energy. The two highly touted magnet generators, De Palma’s N-Machine and Lutech’s LEA system both claim high levels of overunity. To date these claims have not been independently verified by unbiased, neutral scientists. In addition, there no companies selling these generators, only people offering plans.

Magnet generator critics claim that over-unity or free energy cannot be produced without violating a basic law of science, the conservation of energy. Perhaps that explains the absence of power producing magnet generators. Is the claim of perpetual motion or over-unity true or false? False. Bottom line, magnet generators are at best an unproven theory and at worst a marketing ploy designed to sell nonproductive plans.

Microgrid Generation is the Solution to the Energy Crisis

I meet a lot of people who think they can’t solve the energy problem going on in the world.  They believe it’s up to the government and the utilities to figure that out. Even if these same people support renewable energy, they still think they can’t make a difference.  What will my 12 solar panels really do compared to the massive wind project in Cape Cod or the utility-scale solar farm proposed for Greenfield, Massachusetts?  They are wrong.  It’s up to all of us to solve the energy crisis.  One of the reasons why we became a residential and commercial solar installer is because we are passionate that distributed generation makes sense.

There is a huge push for renewable energy in the United States right now because more than half of the states in the United States have escalated their renewable portfolio standards.  The Renewable Portfolio Standard, or RPS, is the energy mix that is received from renewable sources.  For example, Massachusetts has an RPS of 15% by 2020, Connecticut has an RPS of 20% by 2020, and Rhode Island has an RPS of 16% by 2019.  In order to reach these goals, there are both federal and state incentives.  Right now, big utilities are pushing to get all of these incentives to subsidize the cost of multi-billion dollar photovoltaic, solar thermal, and wind projects.  If this happens, then aren’t we letting the same people who were in charge of the old energy world be in charge of the new one?

Now, let’s go back to the these utility-scale renewable energy projects and take a deeper look. Where are most of these projects?  Since they need millions of acres of land, don’t they have to be in rural areas?  That means that huge oversized transmission lines, costing up to $10 million a mile, have to connect these energy “farms” to places where there are homes and businesses.  These lines are oversized because there is a tremendous amount of electricity loss, up to 10%, during transmission.  The other problem with these projects is that they have to go through a multi-year evaluation process which means no one will benefit from the power they generate for several years.

I’m sure a lot of people don’t understand the concept of a microgrid.  It’s pretty simple.  It is best explained as small-scale electricity generation for a specific geographic location – it could be solar panels on your roof or a wind turbine in your backyard.  You would be your own power plant.  There would be very little transmission loss because the electricity doesn’t have to travel far.  A small wind or solar project can also start almost immediately and you wouldn’t be backlogged in an evaluation process.  Best of all, the profits from energy generation aren’t going to the utilities, the savings are passed along to homeowners and business.  Have I convinced you yet that everyone of us as individuals have the “power” to change the world? I hope so.

Learn how to use solid model and drawing creation software programs, and then get experience in the field using them. Any type of job that offers you hands-on experience will also bring your resume to the top of a human resources director’s stack of applicants. Every company wants a new employee who can develop products at low cost, and so if you can get experience in this area it will play well when you are looking for a new green engineering job.

Another area in which you can shine is in that of professional work habits. If you can show that you are innovative in your designing solutions, and have a great attitude and the capability of working fairly long hours, you will be well on your way to finding that new job in clean energy.
